![]() Very good article. Thanks for taking the time to see that others could enjoy it also. This a perfect example of how educational, entertaining and insightful participation in these threads can be. Several sets of eyes are just better.

![]() This was Sunday before last.I thought TALAMO was hurt(cuz he was replaced on a mount by T BAZE early in the card,) but he rode all his other mounts.Tyler had what? 40% more mounts at HLWD than Talamo did?If he was so loyal to Joe,then he should of made him his sole jock when Joe requested it.Tyler is a highly inconsistent jock that will not ever have the quality of Joe Talamo. There is no way he will ever finish races as well as Joe can.Fact is that if Eubanks wanted to be Joe's agent that badly, then he could still be doing it.I don't think it's out of line to want your own agent representing you.He now has an agent representing him that has another client, but we all know the other jock is way past prime.Matter of fact,he was panting like a dog after winning a maiden race on a 1st timer for Paddy Gallagher(like 10 minutes after the race.)Soon, though,Joe needs to get his own agent(no 2 jock situation.)There is nothing wrong with a competitor wanting that.Eubanks must not have noticed how Tyler had like 120 mounts compared to Joe's 70(at the Hollywood meet.)So,if he wants to know what another agent can do for Joe,then start right there.Agents aren't the talent here. So,if talent asks you to do something, then just do it.Eat your pride, cuz you can not buy talent, or replace it all that easily. This agent made a big mistake(not Joe.)This agent said Joe could really be a star.O.K.,THEN GET YA HEAD OUT YA ASS N' make him your sole client. You can probably still get ya head out ya ass,and get the unquestionably more talented rider back. This guy can cry all he wants, but in the end ,he is gunna be without the talented rider.

![]() You can bet that this was a boil(waitin' to pop) for a while.Kid is almost too nice for his own good.Amazing how he can get painted as if he is mean or that he stabbed his agent in the back.Did he want this guy to take on 2 jocks? No,but he is so nice that he told him he would try it.So,right there, the agent started messing with this relationship. He weakened it right then. When Joe finally speaks his mind, and says he doesn't want his agent having 2 jocks, then it's called an ultimatum, and painted as backstabbing? He tried it Ronnie's way,and he didn't like it.Either take him back as your only jock,or move on,but don't try to make it like you were broadsided? Yeah,it wouldn't be pleasant to have to drop Tyler, but you had Joe 1st,and you're 43 years grown. You caused all this bullshit. Not Joe....

![]() I give Joe alot of credit how he handled himself. Also for Joe to have the onions to give his agent whom he accomplished so much with in such little time, such an ultimatum. Good for him, I guess Eubanks never thought that a 17 year old kid would lay it out like Joe did. It sounds like to me that GREED got the best of Mr. Eubanks and in the long run I think he ended up representing the wrong jock.

![]() I think he'll be just fine. He's still winning plenty even with less mounts. Nashoba's Key will surely make him more than enough money next year.

Tough tough situation. You cant blame Talamo at all for wanting his agent to work only for him and do his best to get him the best mounts. It's not like Eubanks took on some schlepp like GF Alameida as his other jock and there really wouldnt be too much competition. Tyler Baze is still young and at times flashes some brilliance out there...but he has a history of problems and can go into tremendous slumps. So there is definitley gonna be some conflict of interest. As far as Eubanks....well....he did a nice job of trashing Talamo on TVG....which might not have been the best move. He did go out and get Talamo and take him out of Louisiana...give him a place to stay....and got him some excellent mounts/going out in so-cal.....the 2 made a great team...should he have helped out his buddy Baze? From a business standpoint probably not......but ya have to commend him for helping out a buddy..... |

![]() I think people may end up being surprised how this plays out. Ronnie Ebanks, like him or not and aside from being a bit eccentric, is an extremely sharp agent -- perhaps the sharpest in the game. I won't argue who is right, wrong, whatever; that could be debated from now to who knows when. Joe made his decision and then so did Ronnie -- period.
Some people think that at this level, the agent is not nearly as important. That is very, very seldom true. Joe Bravo at Monmouth -- not anybody, but almost any competent agent could handle his book. Pat Day, back in the day in KY -- 'nuff said. They used to line up to talk to Fred and Doc. Angel Cordero -- period. There are others. But Joe Talamo, as great as many people say he's doing, and as great as many people think he is -- he's simply not there yet. He's a guaranteed winner of the Eclipse, and has a potentially great future ahead of him. But he still has to lose the bug and keep going. You lose Ronnie, you lose a big asset. He is a tough agent to replace, and in the room out there, that is tough. Frankel may have asked Joe to come out West, but he asked Bejarano to do the same. Being that Joe got business from all over, now we will see if it continues. Eric Last edited by ELA : 12-31-2007 at 07:50 PM. |

![]() I find it more offensive that people here keep calling EBee " Eubanks ".
He's not the game show host....though come to think of it he would probably be great in that capacity. I say Talamo ends up missing him but I don't know anything about California racing. |
