Just watched the replay. I know it wasn't a great race, but i was pleased with that run. He seemed to be travelling well turning for home but then blew up, which is what i expected after such a long layoff.

He didn't race lazily, which is a good sign. He had started to become quite lazy during his final few runs over here.

Will they step him up in trip for his next start, perhaps 6 1/2 furlongs? I always thought that was his best trip.

He'll go up to 6 furlongs next. Corey Nakatani wants the ride again-which is a good sign.

He was only beaten 6 1/2 lengths or so and the winner broke the track record. I would guess that Stormont has only been in a race that fast when he won the Group 2 in Germany. 5 Furlongs in a few 1/100ths over 56 and a time of shade over 1.02 for the 5 1/2.

That's good to hear that Corey wants the ride again.

I thought it was a very good run, considering the time he has had off. I still think he could make his mark over there if he is over all of his problems. You only have to see how easily he won that Gr2 in Germeny to realise he has plenty of ability.

He should have finished much closer in the King's Stand at Royal Ascot. He managed to find all the trouble there was in that race.

Thanks for the update though. Much appreciated. Will show my father the replay later this evening. He willl be pleased to see 'his' horse back in action again.

Cheers.

wow. this horse has some close followers.
i never gave him a second look having not hit the board since 2003.
he'll have to drop to the bottom level to have any impact at Hollywood.

My father used to look after and ride him when he was trained here, which explains the close following.

I will be the first to admit he is no world beater, but the horse does have talent. He is a european Gr2 winner, and a horse with that ability is usually able to hold his/her own in America. Unfortunately things haven't gone smoothly with him in the past. He started to bleed badly when he ran over here and the only real option was to send him to America. It was sad to see him go because he was a real personality in the yard.

Such a lazy horse, but on a 'going' day they had to work him against some of the horses from the top yards in Newmarket as nothing could go with him at a gallop.

Things have regressed rapidly since then, but i'm just happy to see him alive and well.

I'm still confident that he can regain winning ways and cope with a rise in class.

now I understand the connection. makes sense. for a horse getting on in years with issues, he has what I feel is the perfect trainer.

You're the third or fourth person to say that, so i'm happy to know he is with someone who will care for him properly.

Maybe if i go out for the BC next year, i will try and see him.
