With all of the talk about SC and AG I think we've overlooked a horse that ran a huge race, haven't we? To hold on for 3rd at a mile and a quarter, breaking from the 12 hole, being used to get to the front (or close to it), over that surface is amazing. IMO. I like him next time back, and I'll probably get a decent price, NO?

I actually played him in the PC. He should still be a price next time unless the field comes up with only 5-6 entrants.

He is bred for it

The jock had him in perfect position. Blanc takes some heat but that was a smart ride. He had him a little forwardly placed, but not really pressing into the slow pace.

Most of the closers - didn't

the track was so tiring that Awesome Gem was really the only one to close big. The majority of the horses were exhausted and faded. The horses in the back (Sun Boat etc..) mostly flattened out.

It makes Big Booster's slight close look much better , and it doesn't really flatter Hello Sunday's run.

Hello Sunday is a good bet back over the track. If he comes out of the race without a lot of soreness he may even have the improvement in conditioning.

I don't know.
I mean on the one hand, you guys are right in that he broke from the outside and didn't have the ideal pace trip for that track. On the other hand I'm not sure I would use terms like "huge race" and "exceptional" for any horse that was fairly well-beaten by a horse of Student Council's caliber.
But then again on the other hand (again) he certainly did better than multiple G1-winner Lava Man.
I honestly don't have any idea what to do with that race. It reminds me a little of the Bluegrass.

I loved him in the PC. I lost money on him because I had him in the 1st and 2nd spot, but he should run a big one next race.
