Default Calumet Farm

Getting close to finishing the book Wild Ride; The Rise and Fall of Calumet Farm. A nice book I am sure many of you have probably read. Curious to hear if any of you know what JT Lundy is up to these days? Is he involved with the sport at all anymore? Secondly, who now runs Calumet? Is it Henryk de Kwiatkowski's family? Who knows, maybe some of these answers are at the end of the book.......
Thanks.

The Calumet website is up and running again, and has a little of the recent history. http://calumetfarm.com/

There were a few reported Lundy Sightings when he was in the halfway house in Lexington. He was released in January of 2005.

I was at the November Keenland sale for the first 2 days and thought I saw him there, but wouldn't guarantee it.

He better have a good job if he's going to repay the $20.4 million he and Gary Mathews were ordered to repay. (each)

It's nice to see the name Calumet Farm as Breeder again: http://www.the-racehorse.com/bloodst...res_ad_valorem

I'm sure you'd have to wait in line. He sure has a set of brass ones to ever set foot in Lexington again. Someday, someone hiking in the woods will find a badly decomposed body with multiple broken bones..................

I wanted to take a 2X4 to his knee when I saw him at Keeneland (I'm not a violent guy by any means but he's a piece of garbage.)
He weighs like 400 pounds, and goes to a lot of sales, that's about all I know about him.

Then it was him I saw at the sale. He was much fatter than he was in the photos in the Wild Ride book.

It would have been easy to take him down. He was alone, too.

Unfortunately, Who-D-Who was put down last week due to Laminitis. R.I.P.

A nice write up about him.

Never got to see a race at Ak Sar Ben, but we did a dog show there in '98 and parked the camper right near the Omaha Memorial Plaque for a week.

I met him at F&T July in 2005, wasn't anything I expected after reading Wild Ride. I was in the company of someone who knew Lundy fairly well and he believes Lundy really was too stupid to have any part of the death of Alydar. We all know he was too stupid to be running the farm.

Coincidentially, last night while exercising I watched ESPN Classic Affirmed & Alydar..such mixed opinions of those in the Industry about Lundy & Alydar.

Yes, as Steve said, the farm -- which I believe is owned by a trust established by Henryk de Kwiatkowski, as part of his estate plan -- is being run by the children and some of their advisors.

J.T. is still "in the business" as a bloodstock agent more or less. Yes, you saw him at Keeneland as he is at most of the sales.

I've read the book several times. It's an incredible read -- the history of the Wright family and Calumet Farm, the various family members, the estate planning intracacies which lead to Lundy having complete control, and of course the downfall and aftermath.

Cakes, I appreciate the props on the name. "The Doctor" has always been my favorite. He was truely the King of Aksarben here in Omaha.
