![]() Natalma - Feels like there has to be a lot of pace, right? This was a process of elimination race for me.
I think Roxy Gap is very good, but she's up against it with the dynamics. . . I'm also a bit against More Than Real, although I think she's ok too. Don't think you can really expect her to improve off of the debut considering the way the Brown barn was going when she won. Street Chimes moves up on turf, but is probably a pace casualty. That work she had in company w/ More Than Real makes me think they'll both be pretty keen. Dos Lunas can't rate. . . too bad. Sheba's Secret's debut alone would've made me interested, but she had an easy trip last time and her effort was much weaker than it looks on paper. I'd play her at double digits maybe, but not at the morning line. Pulling for Dixie did nothing in her debut to warrant consideration. Molinaro Special is not a factor. That leaves me with New Normal and The Platinum Angel. The latter's trip first out was much easier than the comment line makes it sound - very green though. She showed speed in race 2, but I think that was more of a function of being gunned from the one hole than a display of her preferred running style. She won't get the lead in here and will be a decent enough price to play. Her pedigree is nice too. The Platinum Angel's debut was completely uninspiring, but her dam side pedigree screams turf. . . don't love sire for it though. Her dam and one decent sibling were significantly better on grass. She's going to be like 50-1, so I'm going to play her too. I'll probably play both to win, which I never do, in something like a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio. If Woodbine actually placed their stakes in the logical places I'd use both in a serial bet. Summer - I really like Rockin Heat. Sire moves way up on turf and this horse had some serious trips in his first two. Stupidly wide, uncovered in both races. I'm a little concerned about a hang job, though. There's nobody in this race that scares me, but I have a feeling the odds come down from the ML. Might box w/ Ronin Dax. |
