ROI Results 8/05 @ Saratoga
An exciting day of racing was overshadowed by the untimely breakdown suffered by Maple Leaf
Mel. It's the part of racing it's impossible to accept but the tribute's to Maple Leaf Mel lead us to beleive she loved to run. As for our contest there were no big hits but it was a spirited betting contest and all four points slots were filled. Zippy had a winner on Saturday but it was just too little. Cal continues to add to his profitability on the year even though it was small. Better than losing a C note for sure. He had a nice $87 trifecta and ecked out a deuce profit. Digger edged him out with a bet on Cody's Wish and survived a photo to make 5 bucks. Real Quiet takes the number two spot but was denied a three peat. RQ had an early race 3 exacta and finished with a profit of $36. The winner of our Saratoga contest was the Lady Cat, Ruffian. Ruff seized the day with a $30 win bet on Straight Arrow in the 5th. Ruff's horse paid $11.80. That is not a misprint. Ruff's winner only paid $11.80, a far cry from her usual $30 to $100 win price. It's been a lean year for her with only one show on the season and it figures that when she finally nails a winner her 15-1 ML horse goes off at 4-1. In any case congrats on the win Rolf, nicely played and maybe your fortunes have turned. And Don Guido, what a tough way to lose a bet. Following are the results provided by my abacus arithmatic.
