![]() Our trip deep in the heart of Texas yielded 3 ROI winners and 5 winning trips to the cashiers
window. It's been a few years since we played at the Lone Star state and for one player it isn't often enough. Digger continued his winning ways and stayed in positive territory for the year by cashing a ticket in race 10. Dig wound up with a profit of $40. Zippy takes second place by hitting 3 exacta's worth a total of $135. The exacta in the 6th was his best return paying $70.40 The big winner on the day was Joly B. His $22 exacta box in race 8 was worth $200 and was enough for a comfortable win. Not only that but I saw that JB easily won the points contest too. All and all it was a good day at Lone Star for JB. Congrats on your wins Joly. Nicely played. Following are the unofficial results pending any objections. See you all next week wherever we wind up. As an old song goes "I got a feelin" on where we're going but after looking at the Stakes cards it's too bad that JB will have a tough venue choice to make. My feelin just slipped away. WIN... ![]() Thanks for the kind words RQ. Perhaps I do better at tracks where I know almost nothing about the horses, jockeys, trainers and track biases. Keeps me from overthinking things, as I am wont to do.
I'm not sure what your "feelin" was telling you about our next venue, but right now my inclination is to take us to Churchill Downs in exile, also known as Ellis Park. The G1 Stephen Foster and the stakes races on the undercard look appealing, even though I can't remember that our small group has even actually played a contest at Ellis. If any of you remember that we have, please tell me. I'll post the full venue details by late tomorrow. I've been watching a few races at Ellis since CD moved its meeting over there, and have come across what to me is an interesting factoid. One of the views that the Ellis feed includes is of the large steel bridges that cross the Ohio River. What fascinates me is that these bridges head South from Ellis toward Kentucky. That places Ellis Park in one of the very few, if not only, places in Kentucky that is located on the North side of the Ohio River, immediately adjacent to Evansville, Indiana. Things like that occasionally happen when a river changes its course after state boundary lines have been established, as they were for Kentucky in 1792. The Kentucky/Indiana state line runs about a 6-iron shot North of the track, in what was probably the riverbed 230 years ago. |

![]() Ellis Park was my "feeling". It's just a shame that Woodbine has 5 graded
races on the same day.

![]() Well JB...."You asked for it". No we have never played at Ellis Park. At least since 2014. For a player who doesn't claim to know much about Texas racing do you know that in the Points Contest you are undefeated in Texas? You have a win at Lone Star and two wins at Sam Houston Park. That's the only 3 times the points have been at a Texas track in the last 9 years.
