Contest Venue for June 3 - Churchill Downs

Let's have our contest on the Saturday before Belmont Stakes day at Churchill Downs. We'll keep it light by only playing Races 3 through 11, which still includes 6 stakes races, each of which carries a purse of $225,000. Post time for race 3 will be 1:43 PM Eastern.

It looks as if we were fortunate in our contest venue this week. There has been lots of concern about the cause of a significantly higher number of equine fatalities at Churchill, and some had been calling for a cessation of racing until the reasons had been determined.

Just this afternoon, it has been decided to move Churchill racing 120 miles west to Ellis Park as a way to continue racing but make a comprehensive evaluation of the Churchill racing surface. HOWEVER, that will not occur until next weekend, so tomorrow's racing will continue as scheduled.

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that all horses and riders return safely.
