Venue thoughts for this Saturday . . .?
Plenilune and I have exchanged some notes and ideas for this weekend. Right now were thinking of having some fun and going to a track seldom played. Could be a good cleansing before we all start serious Breeders Cup preparation.
Laurel Park is our preference. DRF does not have the entries up yet but should be there soon. Thanks in advance for any thoughts. Plen & DG

35 years ago, the late Jim McKay had a wonderful vision of a day devoted to showcasing Maryland bred horses. Maryland Million day was the result of that vision and has lasted through the years. It has become the high point of the season for many smaller Maryland based breeders, owners and trainers. I read somewhere that there are 245 pre-entries for the 12 or so races on the card.
The overall quality of the competition probably won't be quite as good as a stakes laden card at Belmont for NY breds, but it still offers an opportunity to visit a track that we seldom see.

I would suggest, with Plenilune's agreement, that we start with the first $100K race, Race 3 (12:28 ET post time) and play 3-12 for a 10 race card. Most if not all are loaded with at least 10 entries or more to provide a real brain teaser for us.

Since you have gone to all of the trouble to handicap the races at Laurel for our contests, you might want to enter another [free] contest that also uses Maryland Million Day.

As I wrote to Don, we rarely play Laurel. With all respect to Jim McKay, we should play that track once in a while! As I also wrote to Don, hey, at least it's not Kamloops!  Let's all bomb at Laurel. We're all in it together, right? Now watch, we'll have huge numbers in the points and ROI contests! Best of luck to you all.
