![]() In the 5th race at Remington Park, the winner had $2,090 bet to win on him. There was $31,701 in the Win pool. the track take on WPS bets at Remington is 18%. If you do the math, the winner should have paid $24.80 to win. He only paid $20.20 to win. I called Remington and nobody could explain the discrepancy.
The place payoff was wrong also. there was $12,077 in the place pool. The winner had $833 bet on him to place. The second horse had $1,446 bet to place. That means the winner should have paid $11 to place yet he only paid $9.00 to place. I make these calculations every day and they always come out right. This is the first time that the numbers have ever been way off like this. I don't get it. Last edited by Rupert Pupkin : 11-04-2006 at 10:36 AM. |

![]() Just curious, what made you think to check the payouts at Remington?

Anyway, I just called Remington back and their explanation was that it has to do with Canadien money coming into the pool. I don't know if that is true or not but the bottom line is that the take at Remington is over 30% in the WPS pools. I did the math on the next race and the same thing happened. The winner had $6,543 bet to win on him and there was $17,423 in the win pool. He should have paid $4.20 to win but he only paid $3.40. By the way, the reason I made a bet at Remington was because there was a 2 year old running that I liked at the Keeneland April Sale that was in the 5th race. He was the horse that paid $20.20 to win tonight. Last edited by Rupert Pupkin : 11-08-2006 at 06:25 PM. |

![]() I see. Something sounds fishy there. Wouldn't canadian money coming in effect other tracks the same way? I've also thought that you could calculate the payoffs yourself like you did and that they would be accurate.

The thing about the Canadien money sounds fishy to me too. I'm going to have to look into this. |

Here are 2 links that discuss it: http://www.nyra.com/belmont/news.asp?id=1758&track=B http://www.fingerlakesracetrack.com/...net-pool%20%22 New York began doing this in 2005. If this year's Travers had used the old payoff system, Bernardini would have paid $2.20 instead of $2.10 to place. On the other hand, Bluegrass Cat would have paid $2.40 instead of $2.50. I didn't think it was supposed to affect win payouts, though. --Dunbar

![]() I thought I would bring this post back up so that guys like Steve and Andy can read it. Can you guys find out why Remington is taking out around 30% on WPS bets when they are only supposed to be taking out 18%?

![]() You need to have your head examined betting Remington Park. I understand you had a tip, but tracks like that play games. I'm not surprised they screwed you. I would stay on them. You deserve more. That Canada excuse is hysterical.

If you want your money or make a point you can. I guarantee it. If they have made a mistake, or not... if you pester enough they will give you satisfaction. There are a lot of people in this state that think racing is crooked anyway. This track knows this. |
