I know this was directed at Somer,
but I will take a shot b/c Ive always found this stuff interesting even if its not relevant to handicapping.

GEORGE WASHINGTON (IRE) b. C, 2003 DP = 4-4-19-0-1 (28) DI = 1.67 CD = 0.36


obviously the DP(28) indicates lots of class.
most notable is that he has 2/3 of his points from the classic category

DI of less than 2 says theoretically he is bred to run a distance.
ratio of speed to stamina is somewhat in check(especially during this day of racing).

CD is somewhat balanced b/c as mentioned earlier, most of his points come from the middle(classic) category.

as for his chances in the BCC, the most notable thing about his pedigree is that he is out of an Alysheba mare.
probably has a better chance than most Danehill horses do to act on dirt.

but Im not counting on it.
Grass miler running in the toughest 10f dirt race in the world in his first attempt on dirt?
No thanks.

Repent did a good job with the basics...the only exception to what he stated I would have would would be in the dam side. Danhill is a great grass sire and infuses plenty of class...I can handle that part. The mare (Bordighera) wasn't a runner (5/1-1-0...$26,000) and while Alysheba has done well with his daughters, he's still a RAN line stallion so his presence in the dam's sire line doesn't impress me. Granmom (Blue Tip) was a nice filly, won a group 3 in France where she spent her racing career, sent to the US at 5 as I presume a broodmare, she was of course bred to Alysheba. I see nothing in the dam's dam line that tells me this horse has a lot of stamina nor will like dirt...if you bet this one first time on the dirt in this company...save enough for cab fare!

its just that if you are going to play the classy Euro first time on dirt angle,
there is so muh more to like in David Junior.
tested at the distance.
more of a dirt pedigree.
and although both are 10-1 ml, I think you get a better price on DJ at post time.
and maybe Im stupid,
but I like the fact that he is the only horse in the race running w/out lasix.
never needed it in the past, so why now?

i agree with repent, if you want a euro, go with david junior. george is a top turf miler, not sure that will translate into dirt mile and a quarter form. he's a classy animal, but overcoming a top field AND a dirt track AND the distance, all at one time?? ehhh, i don't think so. and as for pedigree, david junior is bred more for dirt than turf--pleasant tap is a half to go for gin btw. also note that dj's broodmare sire, irish river, is the broodmare sire of arcangues.

George Washington's half sister Grandera was excellent on turf and dirt. I doubt the dirt will be a problem. Distance maybe, but not the surface.
