Default Former CF Paul Blair dies at 69

Paul Blair, the eight-time Gold Glove center fielder who helped the Baltimore Orioles win a pair of World Series while gliding to make catches that former teammates still marvel at more than four decades later, has died. He was 69.

tremendous glove - Weak, but effective at the plate -

I remember the famous Harry Caray quote of Phillies CF Garry Maddox..
"2/3 of the world is covered by water and the other 1/3 by __________"

You could easily fill in "Paul Blair" - an all-time great CF'er

RIP.......

I'll throw this random trivia out there and no googling...I was a kid with my Dad at Fenway when a Red Sox 3rd Baseman in his first game hit an inside the park homer over Paul Blair's head..who was it?

Let's continue with the Paul Blair trivia vs. a team I'm more familiar with - the NY Mets..

In the 1969 World Series, Paul Blair broke up a no-hitter in the 7th inning of one the Met victories - who was the NY Mets pitcher?

Also, in another game, Paul Blair was robbed of an extra-base hit by a NY Mets outfielder in arguably one of the best catches of all-time - who was the NY Mets outfielder?

Again, "no-googling" please....

And the NY Mets pitcher was....

◾23 potential Mets no-hitters were broken up in the seventh
(Plus one in the ’69 World Series, when Jerry Koosman lost his no-no in the 7th on a Paul Blair single)
