Taken from Wikipedia -

While head coach of the Houston Oilers, Jerry Glanville coined the now-famous phrase "NFL means 'not for long'", while admonishing a game official for making what Glanville felt were bad calls. The exact quote is "This is N-F-L, which stands for 'not for long' when you make them ****in' calls." The "NFL" line was in reference to the fact that the official Glanville was criticizing was in his first year in the league, having previously worked in college football.

Sadly..I remember those days
