Cool We are being watched.

Be careful out there...

For years, extremists have used online forums to share information and drum up support, and over the past decade they have developed systems that blend encryption programs with anonymity software to hide their tracks. Jihadist technology may now be so sophisticated and secretive, experts say, that many communications avoid detection by National Security Agency programs that were specifically designed to uncover terror plots.

The National Security Agency overstepped its authority and broke privacy rules on thousands of occasions since 2008, reports Barton Gellman of the Washington Post.

More from the Washington Post:

The NSA audit obtained by The Post, dated May 2012, counted 2,776 incidents in the preceding 12 months of unauthorized collection, storage, access to or distribution of legally protected communications. Most were unintended. Many involved failures of due diligence or violations of standard operating procedure. The most serious incidents included a violation of a court order and unauthorized use of data about more than 3,000 Americans and green-card holders.

“some collection carried out pursuant to the Section 702 minimization procedures used by the government was unreasonable under the Fourth Amendment.”

Latest Documents From Snowden Provide Direct Proof of Unlawful Spying on Americans

Aside from the important new information about the 2011 court opinion, the latest Post scoop also details previously undisclosed NSA rule-breaking. In one “incident” in 2012, according to the newspaper, the NSA unlawfully retained 3,032 files that it had been ordered by the FISA court to destroy. In addition, a May 2012 internal NSA audit counted 2,776 incidents in the preceding 12 months of unauthorized collection, storage, access to or distribution of legally protected communications.

I always wondered about Coach Pants! Notice how he started out meek and nonthreatening as Pillow Pants, then after drawing us in he became Coach Pants! Aha!
