Default school safety

we all know that schools and shootings are becoming a bigger problem. just had a shooting in ga yesterday. thankfully no one was injured.

in a previous job, i had to visit many places such as defense contractors, paper mills and the like. they all have a turnstile gate with badges for people who are to be admitted, and an intercom for everyone else. could also install a gate for the buses to go thru, and only the buses, much like a cable company had (copper a high priced commodity).
why don't we install those at schools? seems a simple fix to me. and relatively inexpensive compared to armed guards, etc, etc.

According to the CDC’s School Associated Violent Death Study, between 1% and 2% of all homicides among school-age children happen on school grounds or on the way to and from school or during a school sponsored event. So the vast majority of students will never experience lethal violence at school.
School shootings provide a way to divert attention from between 98% to 99% of all the other homicides among school age children only to selfishly, further an anti-gun agenda.

It's been done. In fact in Chicago most schools have a CPD officer assigned. Of course Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country.

Unfortunately Chicago also has the most lenient minimum/max for a serious gun crime. (One year).

Not sure what's going on elsewhere but certainly IMO it should be handled locally instead of Federally.

a lot of things should be handled locally, not federally.
