I went last year...the weather wasn't quite as nice as today's but it was a great time. It's a great place but I thought Saint Cloud was the nicest track I went to over there.

Cost to go to Paris? Well, it's reasonable to fly to Paris but Paris itself is a pretty expensive city. Going to Longchamp is cheap as you take the Metro to the edge of the Park and then there are buses going to and from the track. They do a great job of running shuttle buses on Arc day. I'm not sure what seats cost as I got comps from French Gallop and I know the dining rooms are very expensive on Arc Day ( great food though ). Overall though it's not expensive just going to the track in France.

Speed really died in that race. I guess track bias is true everywhere. Wonder if that's something to consider??

Comments???

thanks blackthroat it seems like a great trip dont know if i have that much money but can always dream....Spyder i think in that 1st race it seems like they were really rolling early and that horse may have gone to much to early i think in the Arc its going to be a waiting game to see who goes and who has the best closing punch.

Seems nice over there. My wife wants to make Europe our vacation next year but I am more of a tropical guy and want badly to go back to Hawaii or Fiji in 2007. Never been to Europe and somehow am okay with that for now at least.

I have only been to Saint-Cloud, which I loved. So spacious and expansive, not only the track but also the stands. Its up on a plateau on the west side of the Seinne and one can just see the tip of the Eiffel Tower in the distance.

Default Camera work

Really like the camera work forthese races. It gives a different perspective showing the jocks in the gate, the pan shots before the race and the finish. It makes all US races seem all the same. Classy touch.

I loved that place. It was also a beautiful day which helped. I love the way the horses pull up around the big tree after the finish.

Getting there was easy as we just took a cab over the bridge and up the hill from the Metro stop but getting back into Paris was pretty problematic as we had to wander a few miles to find the train station heading back into the city.

Default Going to France

If you're going to make the trip I highly suggest taking in UK racing too. You can take the Chunnel Train - Waterloo to Paris and takes 90 minutes. It goes under the English Channel and goes 200 mph in France. One caution: Do not take this train with a hang over!

Anyway, it's an easy afforable way to get form England to France and back and that way you can make the most of the trip!

Exactly my experience. Rode the metro to the Saint-Cloud station, took a bus up the hill. But going back there was no bus I could find, walked down the hill to the Metro station; fellow in the shop where I stopped to ask directions was concerned at how pale I looked. But I made it okay. Always been a wuss.
