Default Mare Power

Since everyone out here is so much smarter than me, maybe I can try to learn something. With all these Maiden Turf races that will start being run everywhere, how much creedence do you put on mare power ? Also, what type of percentages do you want to see from the sire ? My brother is big on the sire of the mare. Any thoughts on this angle ? If you could pick one turf sire that you would bet almost blindly if one of their offspring was trying it ? Does anyone still clock feet from the rail ? This is one of the few things left that is not in the racing form. Also size of the hosses when they run on different courses. I know at Suffolk Downs if the hoss is too big, he will really have trouble on the turns whereas small athletic guys do well. Saratoga's Mellon Turf course or Belmont's Widener, have their own intricacies. Maybe someone can shed Just a Little Light on it.

P.S. When Warren Haynes sings Brent Mydland's old tune Just a Little Light it is hauntingly outstanding. I'd post a link if I knew how. Check it out though.
