Default Bodemeister to WinStar on conclusion of career

http://www.winstarfarm.com/articles/...t-winstar.html

Those quotes are interesting. Someone saw the IHA situation, then went around swinging the irony stick and hit Baffert and Zayat with it. It's interesting to look at the market for Bodemeister and compare with I'll Have Another. One of the selling points being 'we already have at least 3 people interested in buying Bodemeister's babies from you at auction' in Zayat, etc. There's an obvious difference in the female family, but the emphasis on commercial viability got my attention. There's built in interest for Bodemeister yearlings.

Hoof bruising or tendonitis can set in well before the Breeders Cup. We'll be lucky if he races until then

he may race at four, as long as he remains healthy. not much demand for the young sires right now-so who knows?

He's got brilliant speed with a terrific class/distance pedigree. If there's not demand for him I don't know what kind of sire people are looking for.

he will be well supported, and one would assume well-received. i was making a comment in general terms as to where many are putting their breeding dollars. right now it's in proven sires for the most part. of course there are exceptions on occasion. if winstar gets deluged with calls about his services, he'll be done racing in november. just depends on how many want to take the chance on him. he might be the hottest of this years crop, but exactly how hot will that be overall?

I would be absolutely stunned if he raced at 4. There just isn't another 3-year-old stallion prospect with near the appeal he has IMO. I don't remember one with his credentials since Bernardini.

with him being by empire maker, and that one being out of country...it's a longshot, but i'm hopeful. that's probably why they went ahead and announced the deal, to gauge interest.
