![]() I apologize if this is old news, but I try to avoid watching HRTV as much as possible, as they present some of the most bland personalities in television history.
But I tuned in to watch the Woodbine mile yesterday, and... what the hell was that thing at the bottom of the screen that moves the horse numbers around like a video game? I can actually see it being useful for superfecta players, as you always know where your horse it, but god is it distracting. I couldn't pay attention to the race, it was like I was back in an arcade playing ms. pac man. Is this HRTV technology, or is it something woodbine does??? |

L/C.. Woodbine.. Microchips in the saddlecloths. A project pioneered by Barry Weisbord, originally used/tested with standardbreds... He'll be on with us at ATRAB later this week to discuss it.. Wednesday I think.. Has been well received so far.. (And give me the sedate, informative/newsy HRTV personalities over the hyper/overwrought TVG personalities any time..)

![]() I noticed it as well. It could be useful for taking trip notes but it does take up a portion of the screen. I'm not sure on this but I believe it was only for Woodbine.
I think I'd rather have bland TV personalities than blabbermouths who believe that we're watching to see THEM. |

![]() Atleast HRTV doesn't talk to the audience like they are dumb asses! There commentators are just really boring and they talk really really really slow. They know the game alot better on HRTV, then Todd Shmuck, and those wanna be gamblers who give losing pick 4 and pick 6 tickets every day. The funny thing is they have never gave a running tally of how many 100s of 1000's you'd be in the hole if you bet with them. Plus the guys on HRTV have roots in the game you got Laffit Pincay's son, Caroline Connley she used to gallop horses, Jeff Segal I think his Becrux won a big race yesterday mabey you heard.

I don't want to get into another HRTV Vs TVG, but I don't rely on any of the personalities for handicapping (except Gary Stevens, who I think brings a lot to the table). Otherwise, it doesn't matter what network it is. Hell, I'd watch the freakin' Lifetime network if they carried Santa Anita! |

![]() very soon you will be able to watch the replays at Woodbine on the net and choose the angle you would like to view from.. including the Jocks view! Once that happens we will bring on some jocks to ask how close it is to what they experienced....

![]() I didn't notice the stuff on the bottom of the screen as I was focused on the horses. My spouse, who is not a race fan & just happened to be walking through the room, noticed them. It seemed to me, on replay, that they are distracting.
I do like the fact that HRTV shows the breeding of each horse in the post parade; however, the actual video quality isn't as good as TVG. |
