Kev why does he not do as well in match play as he does in stroke play? It makes no sense to me at all. As intimidating as it is to play him, should he not do better in match play?

He does very well in match play, are you being serious? Hasnt he won 3 amateur championships and already won this tournament once?

Els has won this tournament 6 times(in dominant fashion,)but goes down today.

Furyk just won the Canadien Open, but goes down to defeat.

Tiger couldn't putt today, and is defeated by another guy who basically can't putt.

Goosen and Scott go down the 1st day too.The biggest surprise is actually Els going down.He lives in a home just off the course. He has won this 6 times, and just did a redesign on the course. This is no small tournament. The winner gets incredible jak.

Angel Cabrera 4/1

Luke Donald 4/1

Colin Montgomerie 9/2

Paul Casey 5/1

Michael Campbell 7/1

Mike Weir 7/1

Robert Karlsson 10/1

Shaun Micheel 12/1

but match play is a joke and its why the ryder cup is incredibly overhyped....its golf.

they act like its aussie rules football in action.

Does anyone really care about the Ryder Cup? I mean I am as American as it gets, but how can anyone tolerate the dispictable behavior shown in recent years from the Amercian players and their slimy cast of Stepford wives?

I cant root for America in this event and cant wait to be yelling for Europe, that is if there is absolutely nothing else on TV that day.

Tiger is my favorite athlete but I cant pull for the rest of these arrogant SOB's.

HUH??

3 straight USGA Juniors (winning 18 straight matches)
3 straight USGA Amateurs (winning 18 straight matches)
2003 and 2004 Amex WGC match play champion (which is winning 12 STRAIGHT matches)

His Ryder Cup SINGLES record is 2-1-1 (the half being after he and Jesper agreed to call it a match after Europe had already clinched the Cup in 2002.)
It is too difficult to judge someone based on their Ryder Cup record where you are so dependent on a partner for 4 out of 5 matches for the weekend.

President's Cup SINGLES record is 3-1. In those 3 wins he beat Norman, Singh, and Els. His lone defeat coming to Goosen...no shame in that.

Soooooooooooo...he does just fine in match play. He has just spoiled us a great deal in regular tournament play Mike. Other than the AMEX-WGC Match play, they don't really have any other single events that are match play.

LOL...Euros not happy that "The American" Micheel beat Euro Ryder cup member Robert Karlson in the Semi Finals of the Match Play.Guarantees something like $700k minimum (even if he loses the final tomorrow.) I think the winner gets either 1.3,or 1.5 mil.Micheel versus Casey.I think Micheel is good enough tee to green to take Casey, but who knows.

I couldnt agree more. What a bunch of phonies these American guys and their wives are. Spitting at the Eurpean players and their families. How can you possibly root for these idiots, with Tiger being the lone exception. Wake me up when its over.

Micheel isn't on the American Ryder Cup Team.I am not a big fan of the Ryder Cup.I would agree that it makes people on both sides act a little uncivilized.
