Default Toby Keith

He's an owner/breeder investing in the sport, and it looks like he only plans to get more involved. Glad to hear it. His 3yo Sherriff Cogburn just finished 2nd in the Iowa Derby. He's obsessed with learning about pedigrees, owns shares in Cactus Ridge, and has a lot of mares so this is no passing interest. Might be fun to try to get him on ATR even if it's just for a quick segment.

On the subject of celebs who own racehorses, does Spielberg still have any, or did he stop after they lost Atswhatimtalknbout?

He was the one that ran Cactus Ridge. In the program, he's listed as T. Covel.... he goes by his first and middle names for music. He's had horses at AP and various other tracks for a few years now.

I think I had a future wager on a horse named Kirkendahl from around 2004. I thought he owned that colt, who may have won a couple of races as a 2-year old and then disappeared.

Ah, yeah I figured you don't end up with that many mares all of a sudden, so I thought it was more than a very recent involvement. Still, it seems like he's only going to get more into it. If Toby ever ends up with a Derby horse, it'll be pretty entertaining. His demographic's a pretty big one, and they're not the types to try to end horse racing as if it were some sort of barbaric thing. He'd tell the ones who are like that to go jump.

Several years ago, he tried to buy Blue Ribbon Downs. Fortunately for him, the Choctaw outbid him.
