UAE Official Tries to Explain Court Ruling Upholding Muslim Men’s Right to Beat Their Wives
Quran tells men to beat disobedient wives
Thursday, October 21, 2010
By Patrick Goodenough

“A verse in the Quran instructs Muslim husbands with disobedient wives to admonish them, then to refuse to sleep with them, and finally to beat them.

(CNSNews.com) – A top judicial official in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday tried to allay concerns raised by a controversial ruling from the country’s highest court upholding the right of a Muslim to beat his wife and children.

Islamic scholars cite the Quran itself in defending wife-beating – specifically, a sura that instructs Muslim husbands with disobedient wives to admonish them, then to refuse to sleep with them, and finally to beat them.

In a statement published by the official Emirati news agency WAM, Justice Ministry official Humaid al-Muhairi said domestic violence was not tolerated in the UAE, and the government would continue to act in the case of actions that go “beyond acceptable bounds.””

"As long as it doesn't go beyond acceptable bounds." RIOT was right these guys are simply misunderstood.

I know you are a simplistic, moronic jackwad, Dell, but even you know I never talked about Muslims "being misunderstood" in this context.

Oh, this isn't about what I, Obama or Carter think of anyone's character.

Rather, it's most revealing about what you repeatedly and demonstrably - post after post - believe to be the only way to think of "all Muslims".

Good luck with that.

Dear, the UAE is one of the more moderate Arab countries out there, kind of like California here. Just seems countries that are majority muslim seem to have a barbaric nature to them, almost as if they are evolutionally lower considering the age of their culture compared to us and Europe. That or they're simply barbaric.

ie We fight over whether a drug meant to kill someone is SAFE while they find it is acceptable to beat your wife (I guess any of them) as long as it doesn't go beyond bounds. Yea you your peeps have some DEEP understanding!

Dear, your sophisticated and nuanced political thinking speaks for itself.

Give me a break I still haven't figured out how one facing bankruptcy needs to spend as a cure, unless they're intentionally screwing the bankruptcy’s creditors?

When I figure that out I'll work on how the muslims re-attach the many severed heads and clitorises and then know it was a big joke.
