Default Running out of things to slap your forehead about?

The following status appeared on the ReRun Thoroughbred Adoption page on Facebook: "To everyone, please encourage the connections of Mine That Bird to let ReRun take him and give him a great adoptive home and second career. It would really help bring attention to the reality that ex-racehorses can be reschooled/retrained to excel in other disciplines."

It's not just that, it's the 34 "likes" people gave it followed a great big bowl full of crazy pretty horsie people. One woman proclaimed she knows a lot of people at Belmont and if ReRun needs her support, well, she's all over it. Doesn't like taking no for an answer, she says. I imagine she's not gonna be a happy lady at the end of this. Various folks in the comments are trying to bother Lukas and the owners, or at least they plan on making the attempt to contact them. They really need a reality check. No, you won't be getting a Kentucky Derby winning dressage prospect for a $1000 adoption fee. He's going home to New Mexico and doesn't need you to "save" him. I've always liked ReRun, but they really took a wrong step here. If Mine That Bird goes anywhere to promote TB retirement other than his owners' backyard, I have to think it'd be something like Old Friends or the KY Horse Park. It wouldn't be to a ReRun facility near you.

I find the person who runs that page to be fairly anti-racing and very emotional.

Yeah I haven't paid much attention to their FB thing lately, but that makes sense. Speaking of which, I had the sense not to weigh in on the crazy-talk. The last thing I want to do is put my name down as contrary to all other thought on the page and then go try to adopt from them.

I agree, he should be retired to Old Friends or the Horse Park. He clearly doesn't have the ability to compete at the highest level (i.e., stakes) but should still be honored as a Derby winner with a graceful retirement.

The more I think of this, the more it aggravates me. I thought this was a good group, but this isn't very good thinking.

ReRun Thoroughbred Adoption Maybe we should start an email/letter writing campaign and have everyone send in their encouragement to let MTB enter into ReRun's program?!!!!

The FOB have ticked off a lot of owners with their deluge of emails and phone calls.
