Default Rachel shoutout on The Daily Show

I got about 3.5 hrs of sleep so my memory of the exact joke is fuzzy (I totally should've posted right after he did it) and I had to stop and try to remember what led up to it for context. If I got it wrong, I'll fix it later.

Jon Stewart was doing a bit on this idiot from the winning Super Bowl team not wanting to join his team in the White House because he claimed (brace yourself) Obama only cared about his team because they won. Wow that was a brilliant observation. Jon went on to make jokes about how it's great he cracked the code on what it took to get an invitation. The end punchline of the bit was a shot of Rachel Alexandra eating at a table at the White House with Obama. Assuming I didn't transpose the Rachel joke from another bit on tonight's show out of sheer exhaustion, I thought it was great to be minding my own business and see an RA reference on an actual 'hip' show or whatever. He didn't use Mine That Bird, he didn't say 'the winner of [the race]'...he actually mentioned her name which I enjoyed. Like everyone should know to what he's referring.

He did say "Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra", but it was cool to see.

Oh really? I didn't have a way of checking, but I liked that she wasn't just the winning horse of a big race and who cares what her name is. I mean they could've used MTB and just said 'the winner of the Derby' and folks would've been fine with it. I know it's a small distinction but I noticed it.

Borel was on the Today Show also and they cut him off mid-sentence. NBC is the best.

Ah, that's pretty cool - you can see entire episodes on the Comedy Central website, and here's last night's Daily Show with the Rachel reference - the comment is just a few minutes into the show:

surprised Jon Stewart wouldnt take the chance to bash racing, or side with PETA or something.

good to hear there was a shoutout though, good publicity

Racing has so much more to offer than just being an exhibit for the commercial farms . When there is charisma and personality people can relate to, they become interested . That's why ratings skyrocketed for the Preakness .

speaking of that, did NBC ever hire that gal from CNN that was badgering that guy from the tea party? figured she'd fit in well there or on Keith Olbermann's show
