![]() Quote:
“We’re incredibly excited about putting on a show like this for the local and national racing fans,” Charles Town racing administrator Erich Zimny said in a statement. “After the state-bred stakes are factored in, we will have four separate days offering $600,000 or more in stakes purses. By our count, the only tracks that happened at in 2008 were Keeneland, Saratoga, Belmont, Santa Anita, Hollywood, and Calder. That’s lofty company to be keeping.” Forgive me if I'm wrong but I think Churchill (at minimum, Oaks, Derby, Foster, Clark days), Gulfstream (Donn, FL Derby, Sunshine Millions, and probably 1 or 2 other days), and Woodbine (Woodbine Oaks, Queens Plate, Mile, CDN International) also have 4 $600k days.

![]() Funny how they mentioned Calder yet neglected both Churchill and Gulfstream. I suppose you can't fault those PNG guys for their poor arithmetic; one has to lose track of a few hundred dollars here and there when you're making money like those guys are.

![]() Just got back from Charles Town tonight....live racing was cancelled but there was still a decent sized crowd betting other tracks....but man the slot machine area was packed and they have tons of machines too...not surprised they can put up that kind of money...but as a horseman would you really want to run your horse on Charles town surface...I think its the only track still with a concert base.
