![]() This industry is in real trouble if we are going to rely on match races to get fans involved...please remember.....it is a game of gambling.
I complain about 6 horse fields..now I am going to get excited about a 2 horse field? If they do it ..it should be on the HGAS channel..

![]() "Big Brown's star power is unquestionable. When he ran at Monmouth Park in the Haskell, a crowd of 45,132 turned out. By comparison, the 2007 Breeders' Cup at Monmouth in wet weather drew 41,781"
Personally I feel that's a ridiculous statement. They have broken the 40,000 attendance mark since 2000. Granted nobody knows what the real number with the spinners are but it is Monmouth's signature event. If BB wasn't there, is he implying that there would have only been 10,000 people there on a beautiful Sunday afternoon? To compare it to the 41,000 that came out to the Breeders cup in a torrential moonsoon in October and it's exorbitant prices is crazy. http://www.monmouthpark.com/sharedim...nce_handle.pdf

![]() For us fans the easiest solution is to ship Big Brown to Saratoga and run him in what is shaping up to be a pretty darn good Woodward field.
IEAH is saying the Travers comes up too soon, okay. The Woodward would give them 1 extra week of rest. I understand the money at stake from a breeding perspective, but dont these guys have all the money in the world already and wheres the sporting attitude? They talk a huge game but when it comes time for an opportunity to back up their big mouths, they bring up the breeding talk and money, and blah blah blah. Its too bad breeding plays such a heavy role in the product that gets put out there for racing. It would be great to see this race and I am not a particularly huge fan of either horse. |

If they lose to Curlin, which would probably happen, he is a 3 year old going up against older running against what will be the all time leading money earner If they win though, they just beat the all time leading money winner, beat older, and probably enhanced their breeding value. Massive mouths with little between the legs..... Me personally, I would take Curlin and lay 4 lengths on a dirt surface, and if they faced on turf I would probably take Curlin and lay 1.5 lengths. |

![]() I would lay Curlin 1 and 1/2 lengths on the dirt... I feel Big Brown could very well beat Curlin on the grass though.

As far as dirt goes, although I think Curlin is the better animal, I wouldnt take a short price on him against Big brown, strictly from the tactical advantage Big Brown would have in the race. I'd love to see either scenario but we as fans know better that we wont get these kinds of matchups anymore. This isnt the 90's anymore. |

![]() Curlin's best is 3-5 lengths better than Brown, IMO, at 10f on dirt...we'll probably never know.
I don't know what to think on turf. Curlin's effort was his first, and he could improve dramatically in his second on that surface. Beating Better Talk Now is more than Brown has done by crushing some maidens.

![]() On dirt, Curlin would have about six lengths on Big Brown. On turf, I think both would be as bad as eachother and would easily it being a dreadful race.

![]() agree with almost every post. Seems like none are fans IEAH or BB. but, what were your sentiments after Preakness as oppose to today?
