![]() Even though he surprisingly hasn't shown up in the workout reports on BRIS Handicapper's Edge - Imaginary Sailor turned in his second work yesterday in No. Cal.
Sierra Sunset, who is in the Rebel Stakes, got loose in a 4 furlong baby race and Imaginary Sailor blew him away in the stretch and won by 4 lengths. 2nd time out, Imaginary Sailor returned to win the Lost in the Fog stakes by five lengths, going 5 furlongs, after trouble leaving the gate. Track announcer Michael Wrona declared "if this isn't a Graded Stakes winner, I'm a ballerina!" as Imaginary Sailor ran up his margin in the stretch. Even though he's yet to run beyond five furlongs - he's by Mizzen Mast (who ran a 117 Beyer at 9 furlongs on dirt) - his dam has already dropped a Graded Stakes winning dirt router in Cause To Believe. His 2nd dam is Grade 1 winner Cuddles. And he's very closely related to Swain, Gorgeous, Seaside Attraction, and Northern Afleet through his up-close tail female family. Imaginary Sailor was bred by Overbrook Farm and is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer - who already has a Big Cap win with Heatseeker this year - and has Hystericalady as well. Inspite of Wrona's best efforts, I just really get the feeling that a horse like this would have an annoying amount of unearned hype - if he was located just about anywhere else besides Northern California. I have no idea what kind of injury he is coming back from - or how he will come back. |

![]() I had this colt on my early "watch for " list. My weekly Derby Dozen in January includes a few colts that have never or rarely raced, maybe colts who have been laid up etc. Imaginary Sailor and a Motion colt named Casoulet were on there. Neither had shown up 'til now.
I agree that he may be a nice one but I would like to see Wrona in a tutu.

![]() You can count me out on wanting to see Wrona in a tutu.
Those two maiden baby races that Golden Gate had for colts in the 2nd half of May of last year sure turned out to be productive. Imaginary Sailor won the May 18th one at 4fs by 4 lengths over today's Rebel Stakes winner Sierra Sunset. Sierra's Sunset came back to win the 4.5 furlong one on May 31st by 5 lengths over last weekend's Graded Stakes winner Autism Awareness. |

![]() Ya, I am also very high on this horse and was excited when I got his workout alerts. The way he won his first two was uber impressive, and it was hard not to feel as confident as Wrona (although im not sure I would say what he did). I hope both him and Indyanne (a Gilchrist horse) come back as strong or stronger.
