![]() Anew reminds me of Don Six. Both former claimers who blossomed into hard knockers at the graded stakes level.
Don Six got his "test for class" in the Carter handicap last year when he met Forest Danger and Medalist, 2 horses I would equate to Silver Train and War Front today, whom Anew ran against today. I would say Don Six did a better job of holding his own as he held gamely for 3rd in last year's Carter not beaten by much more than a length. Today Anew saw another horse who was quicker than him and retreated without any kind of fight. At one time last year, before the Carter, Scott Lake said he had the horse who he thought he could win the BC Sprint with in Don Six. Then he came out of the Summit of Speed injured and never to heard from again. The same thing was said after Anew won his last race on Belmont Day, that he was the horse they thought could be a sprint champion come November. Not sure if something happened to Anew today (lets hope not) or he just plain isnt all that and a peanut butter & jelly sandwich. |
