![]() The following link is to a BMW M5 forum where the deceased driver asks for advice about shifting gears. Read the replies. http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/sho...d.php?t=111454 This is an additional thread on the forum that discusses the wreck. Interesting read. http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/sho...d.php?t=111545 |

![]() That is pretty out of control. People on the thread are right, there is no reason for an 18 year old to be driving a 500hp vehicle. Hell, I had a Dodge Avenger when I was 18 and I thought I was cool when I was cooking the highway at 100mph+ or taking it up to the Union Square and racing it.
I guarantee the kid missed a gear shift, and popped it into gear and the wheels caught up and he lost control. Very very sad. |

![]() Almost every year we lose at least 1 kid in HS (of 3300 kids) to a car accident. There is a law in Texas that kids have to be 18 or older to carry more than 1 passenger... would not have helped in this case. The law is very telling because it used to be a slaugter with a bunch of kids in one car, not paying attention, and then you have 5 or 6 kids dead in the family car.
Very sad. To fly 200 feet... they either had to fall off of a steep dropoff or be going very fast off a smaller dropoff. And they hit up in a tree...Jeez, they could have been a projectile for even a longer distance. Looking at that car it would have been a miracle for anyone to survive inside. Very sad having that empty seat inthe classroom. The Dad...if he gave his kid the OK to drive that... He is alive, but wishing he were dead. I would be. |

![]() Very weird reading through the posts on the BMW forum and seeing how they pieced it together. Sad for everyone involved...
