![]() Hollywood expecting 14 horses for this year. Pletcher is sending 3. Referee, Monba, and Meal Penalty. Eaton's Gift. Into Mischief, Massive Drama, Shore Do, Colonel John. Kenny McPeek sending Old Man Buck and Nistle's Crunch. This is shaping up as a serious race. Lots of speed, some good closers. The winner of this will deserve the money.

"Country Star, the winner of the Grade 1 Alcibiades Stakes at Keeneland in October, is the top candidate for next Saturday's $250,000 Hollywood Starlet Stakes, the last Grade 1 of 2007 for 2-year-old fillies. Despite her recent major stakes win, Country Star will face numerous challengers in the Starlet, which is run over 1 1/16 miles. The race is expected to include Foxy Danseur, Grace Anatomy, Grace and Power, Initiation, Spritely, Sunday Geisha, The Golden Noodle, and Time Reveals All. Sunday Geisha and Time Reveals All are trained by Marty Jones. Sunday Geisha won a maiden special weight race over 1 1/16 miles on Nov. 8, her first start since finishing sixth in the Grade Oak Leaf Stakes at Santa Anita on Sept. 29. Jones said that Sunday Geisha's participation hinges on a workout this weekend. She must be supplemented for $10,000 when entries are due on Wednesday. "If she works well, we'll run her," Jones said. "She'll have to be supplemented, so we'll have to make sure everything is on." Jones is optimistic that Sunday Geisha can be a factor in the Starlet, even though she was beaten in the Oak Leaf. "I think she had something left in the tank" in her maiden race, Jones said. "She didn't have a smooth trip in the Oak Leaf." Time Reveals All has made one start in a stakes, finishing fourth in the Moccasin here on Nov. 11." NT |
