Default Nobiz...

...probable for the Hollywood Derby for his 10th start as a 3 yr old. It's becoming really hard not to be a fan of this horse and his connections.

Hey I'm just throwing it out there. I never used to be a fan and I know NLS isn't exactly Lure, but the horse is durable and has some class.

I like the horse, too. It will be fun to see what he can do in the next half year.

Enough with this horse. You would think he was the Triple Crown winner. He has yet to beat a decent turf horse and his beyers continue in the sub 105 range.

Maybe next year he will be a special horse but he has done very little compared to the good three year olds. That is why he is coming back. Nobody is impressed with him on the track or his pedigree.

You have to give him credit for running more than 3 times a year.
He may not put up huge speed figs, but who cares - the industry needs more horses like this who actually run.

How can anyone be a fan of a horse like Curlin who runs 4 times a year, and is questionable to run as a 4 year old.

Or 9, whatever is more convenient for your argument.

Curlin ran 9 times..winning 6 - 1 - 2 and approx 5.5 million in earnings

He had a grueling campaign by today's standards

Do you people really take turf Beyers seriously?? He's improved all season. His last dirt race was his highest dirt Beyer. He ran fine on turf. His BC race was good. He's a multiple graded stakes winner on dirt and multiple graded stakes winner on turf before the end of his 3 yr old season. For a slow horse who hasn't beaten anyone decent he has lots of scoreboard behind him.

And he just lost by about a length to one of the very best turf milers in the world in Excellent Art. There was nothing at all to be ashamed about with his Mile effort and this is coming from a horse that won a grade one on the dirt earlier this year.

Is he a great horse? Not at all. But by today's standards, he's a very good one. He has to go into next year as one of the top five candidates for HOY doesn't he?

I agree that he ran very well in the BC and probably would have won it more in 20 runnings than the winner would have.

you have no judgement of talent , you spend all your time judging how others judge talent

I think this is probably true.
And I had the winner.
Still think Nobiz does some
funky things. Its cool he has
shown talent on both surfaces.

He just has some weird habits
I have seen that make him a bit
unpredictable. I would not call him
adaptable once a race is underway.
No doubt he is talented and more
importantly fun to watch.

The main point of the original poster is that NoBiz and his connections should be admired for running him 10 times this year, and I agree wholeheartedly with that.

Besides, I've got money on Sniper's over.

I'm still undecided as to whether I should be very impressed by Nobiz's performance in the BC Mile or whether it was simply a reflection on how terrible the Mile Division was this year.

We're in trouble, Jim. I just checked and there are only 2 threads in the first 3 pages of "The Paddock" that have crossed the 100-post mark. (Insert "get a life, dude!" here) One of the 100-post threads is the durable "Retirements". The other thread is titled "Street Sense", and as nice a horse as Nobiz is, I don't think he can beat Street Sense.
