![]() An 11-year old Affirmed (out of a Storm Cat mare) gelding won a high-weight claiming race on the turf last night at Meadowlands. I'm assuming he's the last horse with Affirmed as the sire in training? Kinda cool to see. Here's the results-
http://www.equibase.com/static/chart...101807USA4.pdf He was sired in '96, but when was Affirmed's last crop?

![]() Pretty cool... I'm sure they paid allot more than $10 k for him. Too bad he's just about hit rock bottom.

![]() The Tin Man (1998) is by Affirmed as well. Believe 2001 was his last crop.
What was unique about that race last night was they were all amateur jockeys- surprisingly it wasn't a disaster...

![]() I can't remember how many total starts or wins he's had, but last night put him over 300k for career earnnings. If he's been in training almost FT (with minmal layoffs) as an 11-year old, I guess those are ok earnings? It probably means he was never more than a minor stakes-placed horse? I can't remember what he was sold for at auction, but Affirmed's stud-fee at the time was 30k.

![]() Maybe indirectly the whole point of starting this thread was for clarification and for H.R. terminology and grammar practice. I'll go back to lurking in the shadows now, and read threads about people bashing poly. Have a good weekend y'all.

I don't follow the racing there, but I would think that was an unusual happening? I wonder if the 139 pound weight allowed some folks to compete in a live race that otherwise just work horses? Not that many 139 pound races I ever see. |
