![]() From the Daily Gazette By Bob Conner
Five days before Gov. Eliot Spitzer is scheduled to release his recommendations on the future of New York's racing franchise, a new report from Common Cause shows the governor received $403,579 in campaign contributions over a four year period from people now associated with Excelsior Racing Assocaiates, one of the bidders for the franchise. $300,00 of this was received between January 2007 - January 2007. Money Talks Baby!! Eliot is a dirty rat weasal. Last edited by fpsoxfan : 08-31-2007 at 11:11 AM. |

![]() I'm a little nervous on this. Despite NYRA having some shady practices in their past, they have always put on the best racing in the country bar none. No other circuit even comes close. Would someone new ruin it or screw it up. I am nervous.

![]() It would be nearly impossible to screw up racing in NY. Perhaps NYRA should just be in charge of racing and let another company run the slots. NYRA says they are non-profit so why are they so interested in slots. Just agree to a certain percentage and stick to racing.
NYRA is just as corrupt as any other group though. Buying off politicians has always been connected to horse racing in NY. Just go to Saratoga and see how many boxes have NY politicians names on them. |

If it is nearly impossible to screw up NY racing, why would you want someone in there who has a track record of corruption and bankruptcy? |

There's an old saying... "If it ain't broke...don't fix it". This guy has done more damage to N.Y. racing than anybody else in many years.

Here he is with is "good" pal Joe Bruno on Travers day at Saratoga. And I thought the politicians in NJ were bad. Spitzer would fit in with the Jersey politicos just fine. |
