Calder 8/11. Four Stakes; Mach Ride
Mach Ride is entered going 5F on turf for $250k. Unbridled Sydney goes in the Distaff Turf Sprint, also for $250k. Also the Florida Stallion Stakes series gets started. No one would mistake it for DelMar or Saratoga but very full fields but a very nice card for mid-summer.

It is a nice card indeed. I started to take a peek at it Monday night (the 120 hour entry system is amazing). The turf sprint races are fun and Mach Ride was certainly a surprise entrant. As is always the case with Calder, one must hope the rain stays away.

In other words, bring your raincoat.
I feel bad for Calder, because they can be in the middle of a horible drought in South Florida, yet when they plan a big day, it sems to ALWAYS rain and screw the entire day up.

I wonder if Mach Ride is entered hoping for the race to come off the turf. I also see that Whenthedoveflies is entered after a 1 year layoff. She owns the track record at CRC. Smittys Sunshine was dead game last race on SOS day.
