Default Hank Goldberg - Preakness Draw

That guy is toast and toasted. He cannot even complete a sentence. I heard he drinks but come on, he really seems wasted. Also looks like he's lost a lot of weight. I think I could do better i.e. hold my drinks and say something coherent.

Didn't see the post draw but now wish I did. I've often wondered how the guy gets TV gigs let alone how he keeps them.

Everytime I see him on a telecast, I swear he's drunk or darn near. Does he not realize that he sounds like an idiot?

I just said this on another forum -- I'm not sure why people keep accusing him of being "drunk".

I think he is just not well-suited to live interviews. And so I'm not sure why they keep putting him into a situation he's clearly not comfortable with.

Live TV just doesn't seem to be his cup of tea.

He's never been very good, but he seems far worse this year. I was wondering if he has had some health issues, can't seem to string anything together.

Taped radio pieces?

I was gonna say I don't think he's drunk but they do call him "Hammerin' Hank" don't they? hmmm... Nah I think he's so nervous in front of a live broadcast that he holds his breath. If you watch, it's like he forgets to breathe and every so often his body tries to make him breathe whether he likes it or not. The nerves mess with his articulation I'm sure.

you'd think they would work with the guy, if they want him on tv, least they could do is make him somewhat comfortable.

he doesn't have to be pretty! looks don't mean squat. i just wish he wasn't so unsettling to watch, how can you focus on what he's saying?

But Jeneane Edwards is about the best "live" interviewer on television, if you ask me. She's cookie cutter in the sense that she's wildly poised at all times, but she provides a great interview. I can't think of anyone else I want to see more on a horse racing telecast, and that includes one of my favorites Kenny Mayne.

Lay off. He may really be suffering from something bad. I noticed the memory thing on another show, perhaps it was last years, Derby cant recall, seen so many old videos. He was supposed to be giving his exotic picks and then he couldnt remember and then it was obvious he was using cue cards and then he just laughed it off. I like him, it's obvious he's not good in front of live camera hope he gets healthier.

it's not that i'm against giant heads. i like madden. i just want them to spit out something intelligble w/o sweating so much i need a shower.

Please "Hammer" dont hurt em'

Hes the worlds worst, painful to watch. Maybe the reason hes so uncomfortable is because he doesnt have a clue what hes talking about and its all scripted

What does "he" bring to the table about horseracing?
He "may" be entertaining to listen to with trying to make a joke, but knows little about the sport.
At least "Hank" knows a bit.

Maybe he should stick to NFL handicapping on ESPN where he hits at an amazing 45% clip every year.

Drunk or not, last year at The Preakness, Hank Goldberg was the only one on the ESPN pre-race show to pick Bernardini over Barbaro. Not that we will ever know what might have happened. Then tragedy struck.

I wasn't denigrating Hank, but responding to someone who said that they don't look cookie cutter molds and another that he might just not be the best at live television. Sure, Hank knows a bit, I never said otherwise. I enjoy Kenny Mayne because of the fact that he's entertaining, something I don't mind in a person hosting any sporting event.
