You almost can't process the randomness of the tragedy. They think somebody flicked a cigarette out of their car, and it landed in the hay, killing 6 horses and burning one of the people in the cab as they tried to put it out. It sounds like some or all were bought at the Ocala 2yo sale. Some of the owners were getting into it for the first time, only to have this happen.
One of the horses was to be trained by Richard Schosberg who lost Giant Moon to laminitis back in February. I guess I missed hearing that news which is also pretty terrible. To the connections, I'm sorry for your loss and for the suffering those horses must have endured. I really hope we haven't lost the enthusiasm the new owners were in the process of bringing to the sport.
