That was a tough beat at 28-1 with Crack the Cognac. He did all the work and the ratty chalk did just enough to nail him on the wire.

thanks

Final tally: Battle Tank scratched. Had winners from the overbet Unwritten $3.40, the heavily late bet Don't Hold Back $5.40, Posse Cat $6.60 and Catchuptothesun $14.40, (the power of the AE who draws in
4 winners of 9, $29.80 (per $2 wager) ROI: $3.31. I plan on posting plays on weekends and want to dispel two myths: 1) one cannot "bet blind" (betting early after getting track conditions but not seeing odds) and turn a profit, and 2) one cannot make money betting 2-1 type horses.

So if you really like a horse who you think will be 10-1 and he goes off at 2-1 it's still a good bet?

Probably not but it depends. Those type win more than their fair share of races but I would likely pass. That's the one negative to betting blind. But for every one of those types, there's many more possible action bets that I will pass up.
