Of course I did not say he was eliminated from contention but the idea that because a horses has the earnings to go he has "qualified" is the shortsighted part. The guy basically has him penciled in and after last week (and really after all his races where he basically wants to run off) they should be hoping that he should be in the gate, not expecting.
And I don't know why that race should be thrown out or discounted. It wasnt very good.

Don't get me wrong, I already thought this horse was a virtual no hoper for winning the Derby. I'm just saying that if you liked him before this race, I think he can be forgiven his distant second.
First, it was his first start in three months.
Second, he did have a start that compromised his chances, especially considering his style.
Third, he ran way way way too fast for the first parts of the race. He almost seemed too fresh.
