I dont know if it was a bigger mistake for Gomez to attempt to re-rally like he did. If he hadnt he would have been accused of not riding his mount to the fullest and would have probably been probed by the stewards eventually. His horse despite having more than enough earnings was still part of the betting pool and would have really pissed off the bettors even more if he chose not to ride fully the last 2 furloungs.
