You don't let an odds-on favorite force his way up inside of you at that point in the race.
Look at what Migliore and Cohen both did to an odds-on favorite in the Whirlaway. Migliore intentionally cut him off - veered inward sharply and got his own horse cut in the back leg - and Cohen went WAY out of his way to gun and intimidate going into the 1st turn.
What's Espinoza supposed to do - push the horse to his outside out and give Lookin At Lucky a VIP invite path up the rail because Gomez wanted to save ground? Saving ground is close to pointless on that track anyway.
Anyone who thinks Espinoza was totally out of horse at that point is kidding themselves .. you're never out of horse that early on synthetic. It's not like they were flying up front.
