I've been lucky... had two bad falls (one where my grey rolled on me and broke my tailbone OUCH) and one where I fell onto a jump.  Besides my back problems, I have never had serious injuries.  Horses are very dangerous.  Worth it to me, but still dangerous.

 I remember my first fall the most...it took forever to hit the ground.  My pony bolted and every few strides I lost a stirrup and rein.  I seriously just wanted to get it over with, but couldn't imagine employing the skills you are taught in learning to fall, so instead I landed on my neck.  

   12 hands may not be very big, but when you're meeting the ground it seems a very long trip!
