I don't understand this at all. He actually finished better than I thought he would.

I don't think it was a matter of God frowing on him, he's just not good enough.

Obviously it's a shame TCI got hurt, but I don't think he was shooting up the rail to win.

My answer would be Union Rags, terrible start, checked sharply on the backstretch and still ran 6th. I'm not saying he was gonna win, but with a clean trip he certainly could have made some noise.

The Derby Gods frowned upon everyone who thought that someone would push Little Mike in the Turf Classic. Instead, they let him get away completely uncontested. I'm still sour about this, especially when the same thing happened in the American Turf on Friday. Pace and pace pressure seem to be something fading a bit in racing.

I have been festering over this myself but I have come to the conclusion that it is my fault that I didn't have Little Mike or Get Stormy on a backup ticket to guard against exactly what happened. Races are not run on paper. But I would not have gone 10 deep in the derby on my backup ticket like I did on my main so it is a moot point.

WOW....I was initially thinking about the Derby itself but you're so right...letting Little Mike waltz round the track like they did brought the loudest bitching in my house on Sat....The DERBY GODS have a BIG REACH on Derby Day even spilling over to the undercard

Im sorry but, the Derby Gods (so called bad luck) is different than a jock stealing a race on the lead because 3 other pinheads let him.
It's apples vs oranges.

slotdirt 05-07-2012 11:23 AM

The funny part is that one of those pinheads did the exact same thing on Get Stormy in the 2011 running of the Woodford.

your definition of derby gods and mine are not the same...they're apples and oranges...my defininition is more than "bad luck"...my definition in as few words possible is "Twilight Zone" stuff

Indian Charlie 05-07-2012 11:27 AM

Jockeys are far and away the biggest reason I can't bring myself to bet anymore.

If they did away with them, I'd start betting again.

you mean the Horse or the Doctor ?

I was referring to the doctor more than the horse...however, the derby gods don't discriminate between the two
