ATR PROGRAMMING HEADACHE: Starting Monday..

Starting Monday (5/16), Sirius is adding ESPN Radio programming to Ch. 93 from 10a-7p, interfering with hours 2-3 of ATR (10a-12p) and TVG audio (12-7p). XM 209, Sirius Internet 860 and next day ATR replay 6-9a on Sirius 93 are not affected.

It may take a few weeks for Sirius to work out the situation which will likely find ATR and TVG on a new channel. I'll know more later this week. Hope it isn't too inconvenient for Sirius listeners to catch hours 2 & 3 the next morning, on Sirius Internet, or later the same day via stream, pod or archive.

In the 6 years I have been a Sirius subscriber, I have listened to ESPN radio for a grand total of about 6 seconds. Brilliant move.

Stevo,

Where can we expresss our displeasure?

When are you going to start your own satalite station We went in together to buy horses.......we can do a satalite!;):D

pweizer 05-15-2011 07:21 AM

Doesn't ESPN radio have its own channel already?

They have 2. Don't understand why they need a third......

Echo Farm 05-15-2011 09:24 AM

I hope you stay on the internet. My Sirius expires 5/23/2011 and I'm done.

After calling to cancel it in December, the offered me 5 months for a total of $23.82. Now I have to pay up full amount again. It's just not worth it.

Pandora and Tunein radio work great on the computer and iStuff. Hopefully ATR will stay on the web.

During the week leading up to the Preakness is a great time to leave the horse racing radio programing without a station!!!! I love the thinking on this one:mad:

This SUX! I hadn't seen this thread, I just got off the phone, tried to turn the show back on, and it's gone! I thought this was some damn channel mixup! ESPN does have at least 1 or 2 channels already, this is crap!

Echo Farm 05-16-2011 09:29 AM

I just called Sirius to cancel my service. The friendly gentleman in Egypt said that they were updating their system and call back in 2 hours.

I'm glad I didn't wait until the last minute.

This is terrible. You are part of the Pacific time zone's drive to work.

I am trying to register a complaint right now. Unfortunately, the representative is incredibly incompetent which is making this very frustrating, I am not sure she even understands what I am talking about. She is insisting that there has been no change to programming and refers me to the website which has not been updated. To do this on Preakness week of all times demonstrates incredibly poor judgment by Sirius.

Many Others 05-16-2011 10:55 AM

Sent them a four-paragraph email from the link above - they promised a "response" within 24 hours, should be interesting, kept stressing this is why am a FORMER customer, is ridiculous ...

slotdirt 05-16-2011 11:03 AM

^^^^ Good luck. In the several years I've had Sirius, any complaint made online has gone unanswered.

golfer 05-17-2011 05:49 AM

I received an e-mail response last night from someone named Ghen, telling me my "concerns" will be forwarded to the programming team (in other words, the same geniuses who thought this was a good idea in the first place). I feel very confident this will be rectified momentarily:rolleyes:

devana 05-17-2011 10:48 AM

Sent my complaint email to Sirius. Hopefully if they
get enough they will correct this stupid decision.
Think I might send a few each day until they get
get the message and if they don't will cancell all
four of my accounts !

I am probably off base with this but can Sirius offer a migration path for its customers to XM? I believe they are they are the same parent company. XM channel 209 is not impacted if I am reading this correctly.

Oaklawnfan 05-17-2011 11:14 AM

With the merger of Sirrius and XM the quality has been steadily going downhill and now they've sunk to a new all-time low matching their stock prices. I too have submitted my displeasure with their brilliant programming move. I'm jonesin' for my morning Byk fix and my afternoon Matt maintenance.:wf

That's what I don't understand. I thought the recent channel update was to synchronize both the Sirius and XM channel lineups. Why does XM get ATR uninterrupted and Sirius only get the first hour? Makes no sense...

trackrat59 05-17-2011 11:44 AM

If I could, I would hire Seal Team 6 to get to the bottom of this and find the person responsible.

The best comment was this AM on XM when a caller asked Steve for the sports programmers home address. He was going to "speak" to the man...Steve didnt think that would be a wise idea...the callers comeback was "after I get done with him, you'll have a five hour show!" CLASSIC:eek:

Arletta 05-17-2011 04:27 PM

I liked what Alan in Kentucky had to say too:)

He seems like a pretty decent guy.

Feel like the maid who was slipped a mickey by Sirius....NO BUENO STEVE!
Horse racing always get's the BIG shaft!

Kasept 05-17-2011 08:51 PM

Appreciate everyone's support and frustration. As far as I know, the Sports Dept. is still working on solution. The caller with the 'Best of XM' package idea may be on to something. At the time of the merger, we were on 'Best of Sirius' until XM found room for ATR, so the opposite concept may be viable.

That was the one and only 'Robert from Arozone'... Former Turf Paradise trainer and current over-the-road big rig driver.

He wasn't kidding. :D

Can't Satish, or someone with comparable "juice," get to Mel Karmazin? These type of people always "know a guy who knows a guy......"

I apprecitate the idea as well. But the package I have is called "Everything Sirius & The Best of XM", and I am still getting shut out of these 2 hours live, so I am confused? When I upgraded my package last, I was hoping these frustrations were a thing of the past, but it's like here we go again. Steve I hope they can find a way to work this out, or I guess an equipment switch to XM would be the next step.

That's awesome. What other show gets that kind of loyalty? Hoping that the non-felony approach works to get you back to full air coverage.

Echo Farm 05-19-2011 08:45 AM

The computer voice at Sirius is telling me that I am important to them........
10 minutes and still holding.

At 11 minutes, I get Kerpal, he asked me my phone number and why I didn't want to continue my Sirius. I started to tell him,now have Ms. Automatic Voice along with their bell ringing "jittery music".

17:13 and no word from Kerpal. Maybe he's checking his dog.

I hope the battery in my phone holds out.

27:48 Now I have a nice fellow in Iowa who speaks English. He's arranging the cancellation and checking with a supervisor to arrange a confirmation email (not normally done).

He's back and I'm cancelled at the end of my service (May 23). Total time right at a half hour.

I've sent two complaint emails to the link and they both have come back as undeliverable with the following message:
Unknown address error 550-'5.4.1 non-nusic_prog@siriusxm.com: Recipient address rejected: Access Denied'
Anyone else have this problem?

Oaklawnfan 05-19-2011 12:21 PM

I had the same problem. I discovered that when you select the non-music programing selection it pulls a mis-spelled e-mail address so it doesn't go through. I sent it to the music programing selection, informed them of their problem and said to forward my comment to the correct parties. They complied and I received a standard formal return comment which stated they will take it up with the programmers. I'm pre-paid through December or I would have dropped yesterday.
