Kenny Perry (Scuds Read This)
This guy is a gamer. Right back in the hunt again and just holed a chip shot that was money on. He is so cool, laid back and takes it all in stride.
Scuds you were dead on about Perry coming right back and gettin it done, nice call. |
I can't believe they grew the rough to 6" on that course. That course is borderline impossible with 3-4" rough, let alone 6"+... trust me, been there, done that.
Also souped up the greens a bit too.... Jackie Nicklaus said the greens were over 12 on the stimpmeter on Monday... and it'll only get faster. Although, it's supposed to rain there tomorrow, which is normal, as it rains everytime they schedule that tournament. Perry always plays that course good, even when he's playing bad anywhere else, he steps up at Muirfield Village. |

the wind is blowin today no doubt helpin to dry the greens out but man that rough is brutal in spots. |

I'll also say this about Muirfield... I've never played any other course with fairways like there (and I've played a handful of pro/exclusive courses). It's like hitting off a spongy carpet. Took me a couple of shots to get used to it, but wish every course would be that nice. Gotten to talk to Jack there, along with a few other pros and even was hit by an errant shot near 18 green by Daly. |

Yo if you ever head back to town send me a pm and lets meet up if possible for 9 or 18. |

I have not played Westchester. Other better Columbus courses I've played are Blacklick (had a US Open qual on it when I was in college and played it when the rough was up) and Cook's Creek. Took 2 golf classes at OSU, so got to play Scarlet/Gray twice a week for free from it!!!! Although never scored very good on Gray (best was an 85)... just one of those courses that didn't fit my game. I want to play Scarlet the next time I get back there (if weather allows it). Can get on it from being an OSU alumni. Want to see how hard it plays due to Jack's redo. Supposed to be tougher than it was... and it was a really tough test of golf to start with. |

What Callaways did you get? Speaking of Callaway, I played their new 4 piece ix Tour ball the other day. Hands down the best ball I have ever played, and I have been playing the Pro V1x since it first came out. I'm no longer on Titleist staff, so I am switching over asap. |

Only have 1/2 dozen left. I gotta contact the Callaway rep. I can't begin to stomach the thought of actually having to pay for golf balls:eek: :o |
The new CB3 is a nice ball. I played a full round with it today and really liked it. The box states clearly that a quad is impossible with this ball.

Everyone's a smart ass:cool: :D |
Kev you have to play a round with them and let me know what you think of them. I bought a dozen for 45 bucks at Dick's just to try them. I really liked the ball, still no Slazenger but a nice ball. Seemed extremely long

We just got them in last week. So funny you like that Slazenger Black Label ball, we can't sell them to save our lives. |
They are unreal balls!

you try punching a 3 iron when it's snowing 217 yrds... but then again, why would you want to:o |

FT-3 Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 3-utility (had a distance gap between my old 3-iron/5 wood and one of Ledbetter's teaching pros that was at a clinic I was at suggested I go with the utility to cover it). EXTRA STIFF shafts on all and driver angled for a slight draw (natural swing path's for a power fade). X-18 irons, kept the Ping putter w/insert (like it and wouldn't trade for anything) and kept the old sand wedge (old Carbite, but it works good enought that I'd rather hit out of sand than chip, so it's staying too). I have a combo box of the HX tour and HX tour 56's that I'll use once I get the rust off my swing (which is starting Monday). Haven't played those balls yet, but what I'm used to playing are Titleists (been using those since high school golf team... just upgrading to the new ones when they come out with them). Can't stand Slazenger balls... one of my buddies loves them, I can't hit them for anything. I did however try the Bridgestone's last year and those weren't bad... but still like Titleists better. |

I played with the old X-14's when they first came out. They were solid, but I just prefer the feel of forged irons (Playing with the Titleist 735 CM's right now.) I switched drivers for the first time in 6 years a couple months ago. I got the new Callaway Hyper-X driver. I love it, but I am still having a hard time adjusting to the closed clubface. I'm really regretting not getting the Tour version. Again, I highly recommend the new Tour ix, and I never thought I would play anything other than Titleist. |

I hit my driver higher than most guys hit a 9-iron... let alone my irons, which has a ton of advantages when it's dry out, as I can even get a 3-wood to hold a hard green..... drives most of my low handicap friends nuts! I'm used to playing with an offset set of irons (original Ping copies, then DCI's). Tried using forged's and though I hit them further, was a ton less accurate. I'll definitely take your advice on the Tour ix... when I need to buy another box of balls (hopefully won't be till later this summer). Now... if I could only learn to chip and get these yardages down, could get my handicap into high single digits (putting's not a problem, as missed winning best putter on my high school golf team by 1 shot and won a bunch of putting contests... even made the 'Chicago's longest putt' at the golf show here 3 different years, 80+ foot putt with multiple breaks. They give you three chances and one year I made the first and lipped out the next two). |

If I need a place to walk-on as a single (normally the case), I end up going to White Pines. Going to the range Mon ($10 for all you can hit!!!), and I'll definitely get my money's worth! Then try to start playing later in the week (if it's not raining, which I see more thunderstorms in the forcast). |

About 10 years ago it was garbage, but they really sunk some money into it and it is really nice now |

I can understand when good golfers walk, but when bad golfers walk, it drives me up a wall. If we ever need a 4th, I'll look you up..... |

If you need one, send me a PM... can't always guarantee I'll be available that particular day, but if so, would gladly join up and play 18. |

Hope he finally can win one. One of the reasons he is playing well is that he is trying to make the Ryder Cup Team. It must be in Kentucky this year,or close to it. Amazing how they want to make that team so badly, and then they almost all choke once they make the team.

It is in Kentucky this year, at Valhalla |
I think we should have a DT golf tournament in Saratoga this year. Nothing better than an early round of golf, and afternoon horse racing.

I agree, I need redemption this year for my abysmal performance from last year. |
