steelers have had trouble with that field from the time it was put in. it doesn't help that the pitt panthers and a couple high school teams play at heinz field.

The Dolphins just can't get awayfrom these crappy fields. First it was the field in London, now this. Do you get the feeling that if the fish somehow pull this thing off tonight, the next time the Steelers are home you will see them playing on fieldturf.

Hey they have yardlines now
|
Sorry I love it.
OLdtimer. Before they had good drainage and ways to heat fields we would watch football in deplorable conditions and it was complete fun. Guys would get so muddy you could not tell what team they where on. Bring back the Ice Bowl as well. With Dallas losing... Did'nt any of you guys or girls play football in the mud and have your shoes so packed with mud that you would flip big hunks into the faces of others when you ran? Great stuff. I love bad fields. Cant wait for the first big snow storm during a game when they cant cover the field. |

early in the 3rd quarter this is the most exciting soccer game i've ever watched. |
They played 4 high school championship games there on Friday, Pitt was at home on Saturday, they resodded the field after that and it has been raining for about 24 hours straight now.
|
Heck these guys tonight are just playing in a bog.
They are barely even muddy, just soaking wet. Its not bad enough. Back to a High School game in a small town during a huge rainstorm. Nothing better. The essence of playing through the conditions. And its a blast. Poor Ricky. He is hurt and the turf is too wet to smoke. |

playing it and watching it are two different things. this is as much fun to watch as ou vs michigan in the 70's. |

okay that was a cheap shot. great players came out of both programs. i admit it. none of them had the sustained entertainment value of an oj simpson though. who did archie griffen ever murder? |

The field was not that bad for the USF-PITT game. It was brown and somewhat torn up, but players weren't losing their footing all over the place. How they thought they could lay new sod over the old sod under pure sunshine and have it ready for a Monday night game 48 hours is beyond me. The rain made it impossible, but even if it was dry, the sod would be coming up in massive chunks during the game. Most teams re-sod when their team is on the road so they have at least two weeks to try to get some root growth. Someone should lose their job over that decision. |

Definity Pitt. It was funny watching the football getting stuck in the mud on a punt.
|
Outside of 11 games in 7 days on that field, they really screwed up when the re-sod right over the existing mess and didn't tear it up...that's what cause all the drama....They need to do what NE did last year and turf it in mid season....
