I think they should allow only Zenyatta to enter the Classic let her run around the track and give her horse of the year.

This would give her faithful a stronger case for winning it than last year and the Mosses won't have to lobby as much for it.

I think even the prettiest horsey person in the world can see why some might think it is funny (or weird or whatever) to talk to horses online as if they are responding back. Instead of taking offense to it (not saying you, just in general) maybe if they had a little sense of humor about themselves and what they were doing there wouldn't be the resentment.

Absolutely!

You mean, that's NOT really Uncle Mo I'm talking to on his Facebook page?

Or Shackleford?

Really, there is too much of this going on for my taste. Look, I'm a guy who admits to giving my dogs a smooch on the head now and then, and my love for the horses is what brought me to this sport. But this bit with horses "posting" on their facebook page is over the top. I try to ignore it.

I'm also a fan that enjoys visiting retired horses at the farms. But I enjoy that and admire them for what they are, and I feel that attempts to humanize them, particularly with cutesy-talk, somehow diminishes that. Yes, they have personalities, and they are individuals, but they are horses. Admire them for being great horses.

I just wish someone would talk to Shackleford about his excessive use of the em dash in his status updates.

I'd rather be roofied and left for dead at the Louisville Manor.

Some people think this is good but I don't think so. As many people that might attend some of the stuff, I bet that most of them were already going to be there. Are new fans really going to be coming in just for this? On the other side, I think that it will help keep some fans away. I know that if I was on the fringe about going, I wouldn't go now cause those people irritate me. Honestly, after some of the stuff I read on that Zenyatta webpage, I'd really be worried about being physically harmed by her fans if I didn't wear a Zenyatta button or ribbon or something. Don't get me wrong. I can handle one or two 12yo girls with no problem but 15-20 of them might hurt me.

Please don't misinterpret my question and assume I am somehow defending the Mosses... I just want to know...

What would you do if you were them?

You have this horse with a multitude of fans and these fans want to know eevverrrryyythinggg.

You want to come up with some charitable idea and I'd guess away from home to give other fans a chance to interact or whatever (shut up I know how iliterate i sound right now :D)...

What would you do?

Race her and give her winnings to charity.

Indian Charlie 10-06-2011 01:29 PM

I'd fly her up to Pike's Peak to do a meet and greet with her fans.

The only thing missing is a face-painting booth.

I'd take my horse of the year trophy and go hide out in a country that doesn't extradite to the U.S. One of these days, people that aren't on racing forums will realize that they stole it.

“The Zenyatta Celebration is sure to become a Breeders’ Cup tradition,” said Carter Carnegie, senior vice president for Breeders’ Cup.

Hmm. So...are we thinking open bar?

I don't know about you, but I'm thinking more along the lines of euthanasia.

If so, count me in.
