Back from dinner with Chuck and Paula (wife).. What a long, fun day..!
Hope all enjoyed this first experience as the Dee Tee Partners, and everyone here really, participated in what I believe was a tremendous accomplishment. In her first start in ALW company; her first start on grass; and first start in 90 days, Sumwon was as over-her-head as thought, and perhaps short for the 8.5 journey.. No matter. Even with a last place effort, the pleasure in bringing together so many people who had never before been involved in horse ownership was overwhelming. The objective of the Dee Tee Stable was to promote horse ownership and racetrack comraderie, and today was an undeniable success. At least 16 partners were in attendence at Keeneland, and I think they had a great time. And I can see that everyone that followed the day here, whether in DT or not, were equally excited. The kind words from everyone here is greatly appreciated, and I'm sure I speak for Chuck when I say that it's been our pleasure getting this undertaking off the ground. It's really those that inspired the concept and got involved that made it happen. And this was only the next step in the process. Sumwon exited the race tired, indicating she needed more work yet, but scoped clean and snapped back well after cooling out. This race will do a lot for her fitness, and as mentioned earlier in the thread, will likely run back on Sunday, April 29, Opening Day at Churchill. in a 1 mile (dirt) $50,000 claimer. More from Chuck later I'm sure.. and from me as well. Back in Florida tomorrow and will catch up soon as I can. Thanks to all Derby Trailers for making this a wonderful day...

on this board. The dream of owning a part of a racehorse has become a reality for all DeeTee stable partners. The owning and watching a horse you own run is one of the greatest highs in the world. Even though she finished up last, she came back healthy and sound and to fight another day thats the main thing. |

I'm sorry that she didn't run better and I believe that she was probably just short of fitness today. That is not saying that she was going to make up 15 or so lengths but we may have got her too relaxed in her training and simply have not done enough with her. She seemed very tired afterwards but everything else looks good. The next few days will tell alot about where and when we run her back. If she bounces back ok then we will take a long look at the opening day race at CD. If she takes a little longer to recover we may need to find a different spot. Obviously we were hoping for a little more but we weren't undefeated going in and we did have a good time meeting all the partners which was really what this is about.

Just watched the race replays. She is a big lady. Poor girl got tired, those were some fairly tough early fractions. I did not get to see her enter the gate but her start was not bad even though the 8 horse blew by her. I was scared she would come out harder than that. Speed does not seem to be a problem so thats good.
Wavered a bit on the backstretch also, and poor thing has got to be very tired after that stretch. Glad she cooled out well and it was very exciting reading the excitement of everyone else. Well get um next time by God. Easy for me to say. I did not run over a mile today. Hope she is not to sore tomorrow. (I think she may have run the furthest distance wise in that race also). |

On Wednesday at Keeneland, I am standing in front of the gift shop, wearing my Steelers jacket, waiting to hook up with the other DT'ers. This large man walks by, notices my Steeler attire and says "hi". I looked at him and said "Dermonti Dawson ???" to which he replied "yes I am." He was with his business partner and said that they just came over to catch a few races. He stayed and talked for a few minutes and was as nice as could be!!! It was just too weird. |
