Hall's day wasn't all beer and skittles though 
and his handy three-year-old Medallist ran into unusual trouble in the eighth race.Medallist's hood and bridle slipped over his head behind the starting gates and everything had to be refitted before the start of the race, but it didn't end there. The gear slipped over Medallist's head again mid-race, blocking the horse's vision and forcing jockey Mark du Plessis to keep hold of Medallist's head so the bit didn't come out of his mouth and Du Plessis had to ease the horse out of the race.
