Slow horses rarely break. Fast horses are the ones that run up to, and thus through, physiologic limits.
The scintigraphy should be able to show a hot spot other than where they already blistered the glut. Internal blisters are a double-edged sword, it makes people want to keep the horse in work when they should be healing. Here's an article about it with ultrasound pics (I'll try and find some scintigraphy pics)
