Isn't the more likely scenario that the connections just have this date in their pocket in case everything falls against them and they wind up needing to finish 3rd or 4th in the Lex. to make the derby field. After that last effort I gotta believe Odys. needs all the recovery time he can get.

Considering the fields they've had for the Lexington the last few years, I think most trainers agree with you (I do too, the only really good horse to win the last few years was Showing Up and that was pre-poly and only his 3rd start). They're pointing to the Blue Grass though- which is 3 weeks out.
